Welcome!

We launched this current events section to provide frequent and timely news on issues impacting Connecticut's working families, as well as to share details on upcoming events and activities of interest to our Union members.

DOT Reform Messengers Testify on Agency Split at Capitol

Turn-out among our P-4 Council members at Mon's Transportation & GAE Committee public hearing on the plan to dissolve the Department of Transportation (DOT) was strong, and we dominated the debate with:

 9 members in attendance;
 8 members submitting written testimony; and
 7 members testifying in person.

Media advisory we issued Mon. morning before we attended the hearings is posted at our website's Press Releases page.

Testimony from our members is posted online at the CGA GAE Committee's website.

Video of the hearing is available online at the CT-N website in Windows Media format -- the full hearing is nearly 5 hours, and our members' testimony begins at the 03:18 hour point.

News coverage featuring our members began Mon. night with an on-camera interview on NBC-TV Channel with P-4 Council member Jay Doody that aired during several newscasts but is not available online...

The Stamford Advocate's Tue., 3/4 edition quotes P-4 Council members Travis Woodward and Denise Eaton.

The New Haven Register's Tue., 3/4 edition included a story on the impact our testimony -- and 3 weeks of raising questions about the split scheme -- has had on Gov. Rell...no members quoted, but a powerful testament to how our voice has been heard.

Great job delivering our message at the hearing and in the news media, all!
